Newest Metal Clay Challenge Piece

Well, the last challenge piece was a 2x flop. So, I'm starting fresh with a new idea and copper clay. It's in the kiln now. I've got my fingers crossed. It was my original idea, but I initially didn't know how to execute it. It's funny how ruminating for a long time on an idea can bring an easy resolution. Here is the piece pre-fired:
