The Journey Within

I am ever more aware this year that fall is a time to let go of the old and go within. My creativity is much like this throughout the year, but this fall I am recognizing that it's to let go of old ideas, misconceptions and things that don't serve me. I'm feeling more focused. My soul is attempting to speak, and this time I want to hear it. It's been an entire week since I made anything, and now I recognize why.

It's such a struggle when there is no energy to create. There are plenty of ideas, but it's much like shopping. There are plenty of things that you like, you ooh and awe at, but not all of them make it into your cart. They are pretty and cool, but they just don't resonate with who you are. My creativity has been very scattered like this. I've gone with every creative whim my mind can dream up, but now, it's time to focus on what the soul is saying.

Many years ago, I was drawn to energy healing. For many reasons, I let the practice go, much like my figure. I'm being drawn to the practice again, and it feels like the focus of my jewelry is to be incorporated. A friend called the concept of my work, "jewelry with a purpose." It fits how I'm feeling. I'm being drawn more and more to natural stones, which all have healing energy, as well as religious, spiritual, and ancient civilization symbols. I'm looking forward to this next chapter in my life and hope you'll stick around to see it's evolution.

This is a closeup of a pendant I made in late August. It was called "Tribal Shield." A customer bought it because it reminded her of a cross. The detail at the bottom is of an egg - a symbol of birth and regeneration.

  2. Thanks, Amy. I designed a cross the other day and my co-workers just loved it. There were three "spikes" on it. They were unintentional, but what I was drawn to do. They all said they looked like nails... That inner voice is mighty powerful!
